Canada-Based Driver / Field Technician [2-month Contract]

Would you like to drive a laser-equipped van in 4 cities across Ontario and British Columbia to assess roads for cracks, distresses, and other road-related issues? We are looking for energetic and adventurous technicians to work with us for 2 months as we complete these Canada-based projects. The dates of the projects will be mid-July through mid-September.
We’re looking for someone who is ready to hit the road to help us continue serving our clients in Canada by operating one of our specialized pieces of equipment - a modified Ford Transit van equipped with lasers, accelerometers, and other technology.
If you are self-motivated individual, who works well with others and is interested in a 2-month opportunity to learn, drive, and see Canada, then this position is for you.
When we say “traveling”, we mean it. THIS IS A 100% TRAVEL POSITION. The selected candidate will be traveling for two months straight.
The Position
Working as part of a two person team, the Driver / Operator is responsible for driving a specialized survey vehicle on projects across the Canada. The driver/operator is responsible for driving and daily maintenance of the van. The dates of this contract will be mid-July through mid-September.
The Company
IMS is a consulting engineering firm with offices in Arizona and Illinois. Working for cities and counties across the United States and Canada, IMS collects pavement and sidewalk condition and right of way asset information utilizing specialized vehicles. The information is then used by the agency to create long term rehabilitation plans and budgets.
Compensation
We pay an hourly rate of CAN$28/hr. Our crews tend to put in 10-15 hours of overtime (1.5x hourly rate, or $42/hr) a week. We provide a CAN$45/day stipend for meals, and pay for hotel rooms each night (and you get your own room).
Position Requirements
A clean driving record is a must.
This is a 100% travel position. The crews stay in hotels paid for by the company. Each person has their own room.
Education and Experience
No direct experience is required, as IMS will provide on the job training - if you bring the right attitude, we will provide the technical training to make a successful career. The ideal candidate will bring to IMS the willingness to learn with a keen orientation to detail and quality of work.
Candidates with backgrounds in driving, military, construction inspection, GIS, surveying, materials testing, engineering, or computers will generally have the necessary skills to excel in this work.
All contractors may be required to pass a drug test and have a background check.
